PUTNAM COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – A man accused of murdering a Maryland parole agent will be going back to trial soon.
Emanuel Sewell, 54, signed his right to be extradited back to Maryland in connection to the Death of 33-year-old Maryland Parole Agent Davis Martinez. Authorities have until June 14 to take him back to Maryland.
According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, Sewell was on parole after being released from prison in 2021. On Friday night, Martinez reportedly went to perform a resident check on Sewell but then failed to report in. Authorities found Martinez’s body in a Chevy Chase apartment outside Washington D.C. around 6 p.m. that night.

According to the U.S. Marshals’ Office, their agents spotted Sewell’s vehicle, but he failed to comply with a traffic stop, leading to a police pursuit on I-64 West. Law enforcement forced Sewell’s vehicle off the road, damaging three U.S. Marshals’ vehicles in the process. He was arrested near Hurricane, West Virginia.
The U.S. Marshals were assisted by the West Virginia State Police, Putnam Sheriff and Hurricane Police Department.
