HUNTINGTON, WV (WOWK) — Marshall University hosted part two of the 2nd annual Young West Virginian Empowerment Conference Tuesday.
Dozens of students from the region gathered at the event to partake in hands-on activities and workshops led by seasoned professionals and young leaders. People from all different backgrounds attended, from policy makers to social workers.
“Prevention is really important and that there’s a lot of different ways that they can get involved in prevention. And it’s not just one path in that they can really integrate this into their future careers and what they want to do when they’re older,” said Alli Chapman, Prevention Empowerment Partnership.
Some major topics of the convention included harnessing positive self expression, peer to peer mentoring and leadership skill development.
