SAINT ALBANS, WV (WOWK) — St. Albans was the site of Yak Fest Saturday, alongside other festivities.
Local artists, merchandise vendors, breweries and food trucks lined Main Street while kayakers and floaters going down the Coal River for the Tour De Coal hopped out of the water to continue their celebration in St. Albans.
“It’s got a huge impact, six figure economic impact. Businesses have record weekends,” St. Albans Mayor Scott James said. “We get people from all over West Virginia but also several states that participate. It’s a great time, you know. Guys we always say if it’s happening outdoors it’s happening in St. Albans, West Virginia.”
Saturday’s headliner is nationally touring artist and American Idol finalist Bucky Covington. He’ll take the stage at 8:30 p.m. and will close the event out around 10 p.m.
