SOUTH CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – A part of the Kanawha Turnpike is shut down due to a fallen tree and downed powerlines.
According to Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers, the calls began coming in all-around 5:50 p.m. They say a tree fell and took down some powerlines with it.
The Kanawha Turnpike is at present shut between Tiny Creek and Chesapeake Avenue.
In accordance to Appalachian Power’s outage map, there are about 1,163 shoppers devoid of electric power in South Charleston at this time.
Crews are on scene, and dispatchers say no injuries have been noted.
