The Great Rubber Duck Race makes a splash in Charleston once again
West Virginia has bought 37 BEAST busses for nineteen counties throughout the state. The buses are scheduled to be delivered to other counties by the end of the year.
“We are so excited to have not only a BEAST bus in our possession, but the first BEAST bus coming off the line.” Says the Board President of Kanawha County Schools, Tracy White.
The bus is made entirely from aluminum and is placed on a bed of steel. The bus can seat up to 90 passengers plus a driver and runs entirely on clean energy.
The buses are battery-operated, and the safety of students has been a top priority with the production of the buses.
“So today is a great day for GreenPower Motor Company. The State of West Virginia, South Charleston, Kanawha County, it’s a milestone and the production of the first beast out of this facility. What’s more exciting about the production of the first BEAST is that it’s being delivered to our home county here for that school district.” Says Mark Nestlen, Vice President of Business Development & Strategy.
The team at GreenPower says that the production of this bus would not be possible without the hardworking people in the Kanawha County area.
