WAYNE COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – Family members have identified a teenager killed in a Wayne County vehicle crash Tuesday as 17-year-old Raelyn Paynter.
According to the Paynters’ cousin Clayburne Stevens, Raelyn and her two younger sisters were in one of the vehicles involved in the crash that happened just before noon Tuesday at 5th Street and Skyview Drive.
Stevens says one of Raelyn’s younger sisters, 15-year-old Reece, was critically injured and is in the hospital. Doctors are monitoring her situation. He says their youngest sister, 13-year-old Laney, has been treated and released from the hospital.

Stevens remembers Raelyn as a beautiful soul inside and out with a talent on the piano and her singing voice. He says in this time of hurting and shock, the family has had an amazing outpouring of love from across the world and so many of Raelyn’s friends from church youth camps have reached out in support of the Paynter family. Stevens tells WOWK 13 News the only comfort he has right now is knowing where she is because of her Christian faith.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family with funeral expenses and medical bills.
