CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – Surgeons and doctors have some new technology to help treat patients at Charleston Area Medical Center.
The latest robotic surgical assistant was spotlighted today, showing its precise handling of delicate simulated surgical work. Surgeons will be able to control each individual robotic arm to easily handle delicate procedures.
It will also allow them to work longer with less stress on their backs and legs, which comes with the traditional style of surgery. Surgeons are confident this advancement in medical technology will help save lives.
“It really benefits patients because surgeons can be more precise with the instruments so the patient may not bleed as much. They may get to go home sooner. There’s a lot of benefits to the patients and to the surgeons for having robots,” said Dale Witte, CAMC spokesperson.
On Friday, the public was invited to stop by CAMC for a hands-on look at the technology and event ry a simulation of one of the 700 annual procedures performed with robotic technology.
