BOONE COUNTY, WV (WOWK) — After years of plotting and planning, the Madison Farmers Market and Greenhouse Project’s groundbreaking ceremony was held in Boone County Wednesday.
Boone Memorial Health (BMH) planted these seeds through Foundation for Community Health, saying the goal of the market is to improve the quality of life for residents in the area while supporting small businesses and farmers.
“To bring in K-12 students, we want to bring in community technical college students, allow them to use the greenhouse as an experiential learning site, help teach them how to grow and how to grow at home, and how to grow in greenhouses or in a garden,” said BMH Chief External Affairs Officer Ray Harrell.
The site will also feature an outdoor stage and seating area. They plan to have educational agriculture opportunities for K-12 students and adults.
