CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – West Virginia American Water is accepting applications for its annual Firefighting Support Grant Program.
This is the 12th year for the program, and since its inception in 2013, WVAW has awarded 156 grants worth a total of $131,000 to fire departments and emergency management agencies throughout the Mountain State.

“We appreciate our firefighters and first responders for serving on the frontlines every day for our communities,” said Rob Burton, president of WVAW. “This grant program demonstrates our commitment to firefighting support across the Mountain State.”
WVAW says applicants must provide a letter of application with the following information:
- Contact information, including a name, email address and phone number
- A description of the organization, including the fire company’s name, address, and county
- An overview of the project
- A description of the problem and/or challenges the project will address
- A timeframe for when the project will be implemented
- A grant amount request. The maximum amount is $1,000.
- A summary of the budget and other funding sources for the project.
- A completed W-9 form
More application information can be found on the WVAW website. Applications must be postmarked by July 31, 2024. The recipients will be notified in August.
