KANAWHA COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – Hundreds of kids are coming to the Mountain State this weekend for a major soccer tournament in Kanawha and Cabell counties.
Shawnee Sports Complex is hosting the US Youth Soccer President’s Cup all weekend, with more than 100 teams set to compete to become champion. Players are coming in from 15 states to battle it out at Shawnee and at the Barboursville Soccer Complex. The event is estimated to have a $32 million impact to the area.
“We’re just hoping that everybody not only enjoys their time here on the field, but there time off. That they enjoy the great state of West Virginia and get out there and see what we have to offer, and enjoy our hospitality,” said Beth Noss, East Regional President’s Cup program manager.
This marks the 5th year that Shawnee has been chosen to host this prestigious championship.
